Poverty rate at its highest

According to The New York Times article, “Poverty Rate Rose in 2008, Census Finds”, a concern for health insurance has Americans afraid. The Census Bureau released an annual report in 2008 stating that the poverty rate has increased .7 percent since 2007.   As the unemployment rate rises, forcing families into poverty a decline in employer-provided health insurance is the largest since World War II. The report documented that the median family income of four has decreased from $52,200 to $50,300.  President Obama recently gave a speech refering to the findings of the census bureau.

The article contains a revalance towards its audience wich is the rising number of unemployed Americans.  The annual report by the Census Bureau has an impact on Americans while the U.S. is a recession.  The article also contains prominence as it mentions President Obama.
